OUR LOVE STORY
|
PART 1
It all begins in a small cold warehouse. I had just started a new job and was left alone to work at the front desk in the mornings. This particular morning my stress level was out of the roof and I was trying to pull myself together. I had a boyfriend at the time and our relationship was bending. I had been using all my energy to try and make things work with him but every effort was kicked to the curb. My energy was drained and I was trying to figure out how to look like I knew what I was doing at a job I had no experience in. The installers at my work started drizzling in as time rolled on and I was scuffling through papers attempting to figure out where I was to send them for the day. There was word going around that "Adam" was coming back! Everyone seemed to be freakishly in love with this Adam guy..but who was he? All day everyone talked about the famous Adam Stone. It got to the point I was so sick of hearing about him I didnt want to even know who he was..but then of course he comes strolling in. It almost felt like a movie scene. Where the charming main character walks in the room in slow motion. There he was..Adam Stone. He looked over to me and asked "Is Gary here?" I pointed him in the direction he needed to go and went on with my day. I dont remember if it was the next day or the next week but Adam started working at Designer Home Interiors. He never talked to me nor did I to him for weeks. Yes, I will admit I was a little butt hurt that he wouldn't acknowledge me but at the same time I didnt really care. I had just broken up with my boyfriend whom I thought I would one day marry and all my feelings were kind of numb. one day during lunch we ended up being alone together at the store and FINALLY decided to talk to each other. We ended up finding out we had a lot of the same interests. He had just returned home from a mission.. a few weeks earlier than I and so of course we had a great missionary bonding moment.I felt like someone finally understood me..& that’s where our friendship began.
PART 2
After our moment alone in the store Adam and I slowly started talking more. I never really thought about dating adam because the thought of dating anyone made me want to puke. I had been going on dates and no one really seemed to be what I was looking for. Guys only wanted to get married or get down. I wasnt ready for either and the thought of dating grew gloomy. A couple weeks of smiles and small talk passed between Adam and I before he finally got the guts to call and ask me out. I had just gotten out of the shower when my phone began to ring. I couldn't figure out who would be calling me so late at night. I grabbed my phone to see that Adam was calling me. A little shocked I answered the phone. He asked if we could "go out." One thing about Adam is that he is really chill..so I couldn't tell if he wanted to go out as friends or if this was a date!
The next evening Adam and I met up in Provo to go catch a bite at a little Peruvian restaurant. This automatically won him points. On my mission in my last area, I served with a lot of Peruvians and fell in love with their culture and food! After dinner he drove me down to a store called pop and sweets where we grabbed a bottle of soda and drove up to the Y lookout. (No we did not kiss or hold hands)Although this was another round of bonus points for Adam. I am a very relaxed person and really enjoy one on one time with people and Adam gave me exactly that without even knowing. It allowed us the time to get to know each other and I absolutely loved it! We mainly talked about our missions and all the experiences we had where we grew the most. Just two genuine people talking about things that meant the most to them. I knew then he was going to be a really good friend for me..someone I could I trust. Someone who could help me reach and accomplish my goals. He was special.
FIRST KISS- PART 4
When wedding season rolled in, Adam was the only person I wanted to be by my side. You could say he won my heart the night he danced like a goose with me on the dance floor. The more time I spent with Adam the more I fell for him. Although It was exciting to have feelings for someone again I was terrified to hand my heart over to him.
After one of the weddings Adam and I ran out early and hopped into my car. He pointed at the lights on the mountain and asked what the lights were. I laughed at him and said they were from squaw peek! Being the adventurous soul Adam is he immediately said “let’s go!” Once we got to the top we hopped out of the car and with a blanket wrapped around us we sat on the ledge to look out at the view.
After a few minutes of silence I turned to Adam and asked what he was thinking about hoping I would get a cute reply saying he was thinking about me. Haha but I didn’t. He said he was thinking about how he could look at the city all night. A little disappointed I focused my attention back to the city lights. A few seconds later I heard him say “I actually lied to you.” My gut dropped &my mind started to race wondering what he could’ve lied about. I sat still looking out at the view avoiding eye contact and a broken heart and said “what did you lie about?” He then turned my head and slid his fingers back through my hair and softly kissed my lips. As he kissed me I had a flash back to my mission. A couple weeks before you return home from your mission you complete a program called “my plan” which helps you prepare to return home. One of the courses is dating and courtship and in I️t is encourages you to let the other person know how you feel so that you are both on the same page. So I did. I looked into his eyes and told him that I liked him. Lucky for me we were on the same page and ended the night with a few more sweet kisses.
After one week of dating, Adam and I celebrated by watching fireworks. One thing I love about Adam is that he doesn’t just do things. He does things big. He goes all out! He took me to the best spot in the house where we could oversee the whole valley. He parked his car in reverse, built a cozy seating arrangement with blankets and pillows and we watched tarzan until we saw color explode into the sky. I was on cloud 9 to say the least. As we were cuddled up Adam looked over at me with his sweet innocent green eyes and said “Desiree Jasmin...” there were no words after that but silence. I knew what he was going to say next and could almost feel how nervous he was to say it. His palms started to sweat and his legs started to wiggle under the blankets. Anxiously waiting I said “yes?” and in the sweetest most nervous voice he said “I love you.” I smiled back at him and said “I love you too Adam!”
ADAM AND I WERE MARRIED THAT FALL.
